Wenting

Dear fellows,

One plus one equals two. But when there are infinite “ones” plus together. The result goes to infinite.

One reason I join Linguaspetrum plus is because this is a great platform allowing me to have chance to meet friends around the world, er…without stepping outside the door. But it really doesn’t matter, language is a glue connecting people together. However, learning a new language isn’t just a matter of understanding words and grammar. Culture matters!

So what is the greatest way to learn another culture?---Go to travel! Then an idea was born---“Edutourism”(Education plus Tourism). Can you imagine one day teachers and students on this platform meet up and share their stories? It will be a very positive experience when a group of people with same value and motivation to do the meaningful thing together. Wouldn’t that be a fantastic multi-language/culture exchange event?

"Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going."--Rita Mae Brown

Ni haoEmbarassed, wo shi Wenting.Hen gao xing ren shi ni.

Ok, if you can understand the above. Congrats!You've got the "entrance ticket" to "Mandarin hall". Never mind, even if you don't know any of those strange letters. I'd be glad to give you a hand.

Whether you would like to learn Mandarin in:

* how to bargin when you are paused by some catchy souvenirs ; * how to ask for directions when you are rubbing shoulders with passers-by in crowded streets.

* how to make an appointment or negotiate with your Chinese counterparts

* or even how to express your admiration to someone special.

I can teach U! Laughing

To me:

The beauty of Mandarin can be tasted in any genre of literature;

The beauty of Mandarin can be seen in any type of movies;

The beauty of Mandarin can be heard in any kind of songs.

As long as you learn with meTongue out. These are "Xiao cai yi die" (a piece of cake) Oh, in Chinese it's "a tray of dish" LOL.

I hope you'll enjoy learning Mandarin.
