Carol has taught 9 online classes to 3 students in 3 countries...
I wasn’t sure that I wanted to teach English as a Second language until I volunteered to tutor at Everett Community College. After experiencing that, I was positive that I would love the profession, because it allows me to, not only facilitate and inspire learning language, but also to spend time with people that appreciate their own efforts and commitment and the power that they will have with education.
Vitally, I approach the classroom in a manner to help the learner become self-sufficient, develop new skill sets, and enhance existing ones. I encourage and maintain a course room that creates a desire for others to share their experiences and for peers to learn from them. I share mine, engage learners, ask questions, and provide very thorough feedback. It is my goal, as a guide and facilitator of learning, to develop all the potentials of my students in their whole, individual, and creative selves.
I have learned from my teachers that the most improtant qualities of effective teaching are: modeling, facilitation for student self-directedness, making the most of opportunities, flexibility, listening, having a passion for your subject, fair-mindedness, supportiveness, broad-mindedness, cooperation, imagination, dependability, straightforwardness, honesty, and caring. These all describe a humanistic and holistic approach to teaching; my methodology.
As my student, you will see immediate, practical results in a fun, engaging way. Join me and you will learn English for the enhancement of greater success in your endeavors.

I have 26 years of teaching experience in a humanistic, natural way. For example, it makes sense to use your native language to compare it to English. In doing so you will recall better. I make sure my lessons are high quality, authentic, culturally embedded, and structured to your business/personal life, which gives you the opportunity to practice English daily in the context of your life.
English is an amazingly tricky language, because it originates from Latin, Greek, and many other languages. Every day new words are added, which makes it difficult for native speakers to keep the pace. If you are studying English as a foreign language, immersing yourself is the only way to truly learn it. So, speak, write, listen to, and read it whenever you can.
Business English is one of my specialties. As an entrepreneur and successful business professional, I can help you write a resume, letter, or business plan. If you are planning to take a test, TOEFL Exam, SAT/ACT, I can tutor you to pass.
Pronunciation of English when your native language stems from something entirely different can be challenging. We can practice saying words with an emphasis on being understood by others.
It is my task to facilitate learning as a guide and mentor in a flexible, supportive, honest, and caring manner. I look forward to being part of your future successes.
